Joyce Myoung-Ji Jang is a native Korean violinist and a passionate music educator, who has appeared in several international music festivals such as AspenMusic Festival, Banff Centre Canada, Spoleto USA, and Tanglewood Music Center with the Boston Symphony.
Ms. Jang holds a Masters degree of VIolin Performance from the Shepherd School of Music of Rice University where she studied under the tutelage of the world-renowned violinist Mr. Cho-Liang Lin. While at Rice, she was a recipient of Wolff-Toomim Foundation scholarship and Bridget Jensen Scholarship. One of the highlights of her orchestral experience was to serve as concertmaster of the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra under Jaap van Zweden, the former music director of the Dallas Symphony and NY philharmonic. Her chamber music coaches include members of the Juilliard String Quartet, American String Quartet, and Concord String Quartet.
Ms. Jang is a dedicated music teacher in the Houston area, proudly serving both the public school system and private violin studio settings. Ms. Jang calls Houston her second home, where she lives with her jazz musician husband Chris and lovely daughter Sasha, and loves to spend her time teaching, performing and supporting her students' activities.
