Charlie Tauber has been Artist Collaborator at the Shepherd School since 2002. Charlie came to Houston after working several years as a freelance musician in New York City, following his education at The Juilliard School where he studied with pianists Jerome Lowenthal and Joseph Kalichstein. Outside of the Shepherd School, he has worked for 22 summers as Staff Pianist at the Aspen Music Festival and School, and, prior to that, multiple summers at the Music Academy of the West and the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival. Additionally, he has appeared with notable young artists in international competitions, including the Tchaikovsky, and he was Staff Pianist at the Primrose Viola Competition in 2011 and 2014. Recital appearances with prominent artists have taken him all over the US and abroad, to such venues as Dumbarton Oaks in Washington DC and the Kammermusiksaal der Berlin Philharmonie.
